This rare prestige sword comes from the Lokele, who live in the equatorial forest where the Lomami and Aruwimi Rivers flow into the Congo River in eastern D.R. Congo. Unlike much of the D.R. Congo, there are no throwing knives or sickle weapons in this region; the characteristic weapons used in this region are almost exclusively short swords and counter-balanced daggers (Elsen, De Fer et De fierté, 2003).
