There is an area on the border of Central African Republic and northwestern D.R. Congo inhabited by the Yakoma to the west and the Zande to the east. This relatively close proximity might explain why this dagger's handle bears many similarities to Zande and Mangbetu handles, yet the blade and its details (brass composition, piercing, and incising) bears many similarities to blades of the Yakoma and Ngbandi.
