This rare axe has zoomorphic and anthropomorphic characteristics. The incised patterns on the wood link it to the Hausa and Fulbe cultures of Nigeria. The shaft has an elegant curve and the horns are very naturalistic. Like many slot axes from Bornu, the blade is easily removable.
