There aren't many surviving objects from the Borno Emirate, despite it having thrived for centuries, ruled by the descendants of the Bornu Empire. This axe has somehow remained in excellent condition, and is a beautiful work of art. The forward lean of the "neck" and the distinctive shape of the "head" identify the origin of this axe.
