This type of spear, known as Ndimba was a luxury good of great value. Wealthy noblemen usually walked with an Nndimba spear in their hand. The iron wrapping was called kunga and the carved bulbous handle was called le kongo or nyo kongo. Typical for this type is the richly carved handle and the almost completely-wrapped shaft (Verlag, Bows, Arrows, and Spears of Africa, 2022.
