Lele / Kuba / Bushoong, D.R. Congo
Iron
Early 20th century
Very little information has been collected about this type of currecny other than that some were collected in western Kasai, and that the geometric patterns were used by the Kuba, Lele, and Bushoong. Typical of the type, only the top of the front side is decorated with geometric incisions and the piece has never been cleaned. This example was purchased from Kuba expert Jo de Buck at Parcours des Mondes in 2022.
