Long to have been considered the most formidable blacksmiths in the area, the influence of the Ngombé, Doko, and Poto tribes' metalwork and innovative designs spread to many of their neighbors. Swords with a heavy influence from these related groups can also be found among Mbudja, the Ngbaka, the Mongo, the Bangala, the Yakoma, and the Ngbandi (Elsen, De fer et de fierté, 2003).
