Prestige Blade, Emambele
Meje (Medje), D.R. Congo
Iron, wood
Early 20th century
According to Elsen, this type represents a transition between classical Mangbetu styles and the elongated blades of the Budu and Baali. The blade and handle is more drawn out and the outer edge of the blade is mostyly straight until it curves forward. The projections are small or missing - here there is only one small projection near the piercing (Tribal Arms Monographs, Vol. 1, No. 3, 2000).
