This unusually-shaped club-blade comes from horn of Africa, but no information is known about its function. Other examples can be found in the British Museum (Af1934,0605.12, Af1928,0509.36) and the Musée du Quai Branly (71.1938.80.16). Describing a group of pieces collected in British Somaliland (including this type), the British Museum states that some items were captured after military action in 1920, and some were purchased.
